Hey Commenters,
Hope you had a wonderful week! Last Sunday we did an episode with Dr. Ravinder Mistry-Dhillon who is a family doctor in Ontario. During the pandemic, he’s been doing research to correct misinformation being spread about the COVID-19 and the proposed vaccine. This was one of my favourite episodes because Ravi was so prepared and gave us so much good information. Click here to watch the whole episode!
Here are the comments we reviewed with Ravi:
Here are some key takeaways from this episode:
The effectiveness of a vaccine is based on clinical data. We don’t know any long term effects of any vaccines, and all current vaccines in the market have not shown any long term effects. It’ll take more than a few months to see if adverse effects are prevalent. In 3-5 years IF any effects become prevalent, the vaccine will be taken off the market.
A vaccine is meant to provide immunity against a disease. This is an mRNA vaccine, a type of vaccine that has been studied since the 1990s. It was chosen for this pandemic because it can be modified very quickly, as the virus mutates. The vaccine will signal your cell to make a protein, it mimics the COVID virus protein and produces the antibodies, without actually giving you COVID-19.
mRNA is fragile, that’s why it needs to be stored in very cold temperatures, special equipment is needed to store it and transport it. Many companies are prepared for this.
It’s fair to be worried about how quickly the vaccines were developed, but we have to think about the type of technology and science that we have now. There have been phenomenal advancements in medicine and at the end of the day, this virus has long-term side effects, we know that. What we don’t know is if this vaccine will have any side effects - evidence shows that that’s unlikely given that there is no research that proves that any existing vaccine has dangerous side effects.
Thank you so much, Dr. Mistry-Dhillon for your work as a frontline worker and for sharing all of this information with us! Follow him on Instagram. We’re excited to have him back on the show after he takes the vaccine!
On Sunday at 3 PM we’ll be joined by entrepreneur and CEO of Thrive, Jeffrey Doucet. We’ll be discussing and reviewing some comments about the current lockdown orders in Toronto and how it’s affecting small business owners.
Here are the comments we’ll be reviewing:
Tune in to hear our questions for Jeff and his insight on what small business owners and those without jobs are feeling at this time. If you haven’t already, be sure to follow me on Happs or watch live on my Twitter, Youtube and Facebook (I also post every episode to my IGTV after airing).
Thank you for your support and see you soon,
